At Allika the forest begins almost beside the house. It brings shade, moisture, birds and changing seasons directly into the yard. That makes the place beautiful, but it also means every building and every job must be considered with the surroundings in mind.
For us, restoration is not a battle against nature. It is a search for a way in which house, garden and forest can find one rhythm again. The photograph is a starting point for that thought: a summer view that reminds us what we are actually working among.
A roof and log wall seen through trees give the scene a slow rhythm. It is easy to notice how much light and damp change a place.
Restoration happens with its surroundings. Forest, grass and weather are as present in this story as the house itself.
