Allika and Tärklase: two names on the same trail
On handwritten cards from 1948, the Allika entry points to Tärklase farm and the Tärklase card gives “Allika t.” as a variant. These small records preserve local speech, not a ready-made property register.
Correction, 17 September 2026. The earlier identification of Piiritusevabriku A11 / property 12526 with present-day Allika has been withdrawn: it is a different plot in Maidla. Its plan and four building symbols cannot be treated as the plan or buildings of the present farmyard. The earlier research stage is preserved below. The new working identification is Allika A10 / 2067, based on the 1935 plans; this does not establish legal ownership.

The 1948 place-name cards are palm-sized, handwritten and unexpectedly talkative. One sends Allika to Tärklase, another places Allika alongside Tärklase. They preserve a trace of local language — names people used even when they did not fit neatly into an official register.
But the same collection has an Allika trace leading toward Lipu lands. The cards do not permit us to choose the nicest connection and forget the rest; they ask us to keep several possibilities open.
For now we know that the name was used; we do not yet know which trace meets the present yard unambiguously. That is a good puzzle, not a gap to hide.
Allika talu card no. 686705 says “allika krunt (see Tärklase t.)”. Tärklase talu card no. 692459 gives “Allika t.” as a variant.
The same group of Oandu cards contains a separate Allika trace leading to Lipu lands. That is why a single name cannot simply be locked to one farm.
Place-name collection records how a place was called. It does not replace a survey or prove an owner’s name, but preserves a name which official plans often omit.
Reading the two cards together is more honest than drawing one large conclusion: the Allika–Tärklase link is documented, while its link to today’s cadastral parcel is not.
A map or land document is still missing that connects the Allika/Tärklase name unambiguously with Piiritusevabriku A-11 and the present farmyard.
